About Us

E-mail Print PDF

The Herefordshire Badminton Academy (HBAcademy) was started by local badminton players and coaches to provide young people with the opportunity to experience, enjoy and develop their ability and potential in the sport of badminton. The HBAcademy is a non-profit based organisation that takes a long term view; aiming to strengthen Herefordshire badminton for the future, providing progression to clubs within the County and improving the life style of local people.  Since it's formation we have been awarded 2 Sport England Lottery Grants, been awarded BADMINTON England's prestigious Premier Club status, received Club Mark Status and expanded our remit to provide coaching for adults as well as children.  This year for the first time in Herefordshire's history we are entering County Teams in the National Shires League at under 13 and 15 level.

All our coaching is led by qualified coaches who are members of BADMINTON England’s Coaches Register and have been CRB checked by BADMINTON England for their suitability for working with young people.  Our volunteers are also CRB checked and many are working towards coaching qualifications.

In order to develop the more able players in our county we have formed and alliance with the new Worcester Performance Centre.  This gives our players the opportunity to represent the region and even England if they have the commitment and potential.

The HBA follows BADMINTON England’s criteria as to playing programme; safeguarding and protecting children; sports equity and ethics and club management.

We invite you to come along to our training sessions and see how we can help you reach your potential in Badminton
